Thanksgiving

Os alunos das turmas do 7.º ano comemoraram, no âmbito da disciplina de Inglês, o Dia de Ação de Graças, que ocorreu a 23 de novembro. Foram desafiados a construir uma "Thankful Tree", como forma de agradecimento pelas coisas boas e simples nas suas vidas. Esta atividade permitiu-lhes conhecer o contexto histórico e cultural desta celebração anglo-americana e refletir sobre os verdadeiros valores da vida. Do entusiasmo dos alunos resultou esta maravilhosa árvore construída a partir de materiais naturais e reciclados, que esteve em exposição na Biblioteca.

Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. It is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November and it is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people.
Today, it is a time to gather with family and friends, share a traditional meal and express gratitude for the good things in life. The traditional Thanksgiving dinner consists of foods and dishes indigenous to the Americas - turkey, potatoes, squash, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. 
It can also be a time of service to others in the community, organizing charitable Thanksgiving dinner for the poor and attending religious services.
